Britt Elin Wilde Hanks, born February 12, 1936 in Bergen, Norway, faithfully completed her work on this earth on June 20th, 2022 surrounded by her loving husband Sterling Hanks, her children and grandchildren.
Britt was born to Inga and Olaf Hansen. Her mom and family immigrated to the United States when she was 13 years old. As a young child, she had to face the challenges of learning English and forging a life in a new country. Growing up in a large family with 4 brothers and 2 sisters, she was well taken care of and treated as a princess being the youngest of them all.
Her sister Ruth cared for her as if she was her own. Britt had very fond memories of her childhood. She loved the beautiful landscapes of Norway and shared many stories of the time she lived there. She embraced her Norwegian heritage with love and the spirit of her kindred Norwegians and was active in all things Norway throughout her whole life.
Britt had the eyes of many suitors in her life. She was known lovingly by the term of “Gorgeousness” by so many that loved her. For most of her life, she was loved by husbands Arnold Drews and Lloyd Wilde who passed previously. Britt was mom to 5 sons and 1 daughter. After a few moves in her life, Britt resided for most of her years in the beautiful Midway, Utah. She said many times that it reminded her of Norway. Britt had a love for music. She directed many choirs over the years, but most of all she loved directing the Swiss Handbell Ringers for 20 years, She was named “The Bouncing Norwegian” by Kurt Bestor. She enjoyed providing music with passion and spirit. Her love of life was so electric, she always had a glow of energy about her which was infectious.
Most importantly, she had a strong love for her Savior and a firm testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She was continually anxiously engaged in the service of others. Along with Sterling they served a 3 year mission in Heber Valley with the LDS addiction recovery program.
