Brente D Carlile

Brente D. Carlile passed from this earth, just before sunrise June 29, 2017, just five days before his 87th birthday. Our world lost the best Dad, Grandpa, Great-grandpa and best friend on that day. Yes, Dad was born on the Fourth of July 1930 and the entire country celebrates him every year! We were privileged to have him be a part of our lives for such a long time, sharing his love, joy and wisdom with us. He was a life long resident of Heber Valley. He graduated from Wasatch High School in 1949. He is now celebrating with those who have gone before him, including long time wife and love Joycelyn Gardner and his first wife and love Sharlene Edwards, his parents Earl and Lula (Daybell) Carlile, his brothers Melvin (Ruth) Carlile, Garvin Carlile, his sisters Marion (Dean) Hicken and Ida who passed as a child. He will be greatly missed by his dear sister Rhea Diamond, Sisters-in-law Karen Carlile, and Ruth Mahoney, his children, Cathryn (David) Adams, Rick Carlile, Dee (Ileana) Carlile, Sharlene Carlile Cole, 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. His grandson Jared had an especially close relationship with his grandpa, they were two peas in a pod and spent many joyful hours together driving, going to the gym, hanging out at Wendy's and fishing with Rick.


Brente loved being in the mountains, forest and fields of Wasatch County and knew the Unita National Forest like the back of his hand. Dad herded sheep and cattle as a young man throughout the mountains and valleys of Wasatch County. He volunteered for the US Forest Service for many years, directing people where to cut firewood. He was a working farmer and rancher his entire life, he always loved his horses and animals and spent all winter racing chariots with other horse crazy families in beautiful Heber Valley and beyond. Brente spent his working life in the rolling mills at the US Steel Plant Geneva in Orem Utah, he also worked as a miner and drove bus for Wasatch County School District. Driving bus is where he found his love for soccer. He loved driving and traveling with the Wasatch High School soccer team. He was a season ticket holder for Real Salt Lake and absolutely loved attending the games with his family! Whatever he was doing he found joy in his work and play. Dad loved homemade ice cream and many times during the summer we would know the joy of licking the beaters!


Brente also took joy in his callings as a member of the LDS Church and served a mission to Eastern Canada as a young man. He served his community with the local chapter of Lions Club International and was an active member of the Sons of the Utah Pioneers, Utah Cattlemens Association and the American Quarter Horse Association . If anyone needed something done dad was willing to help his friends, family and community. He will be greatly missed.


Brente's family extends gratitude and a thankful heart to all who cared for Dad throughout the last six months of his life. All are welcome to attend a viewing Wednesday evening 7:00-9:00pm at Heber Valley Funeral Home 288 North Main Street in Heber, Utah. There will be a viewing Thursday morning from 9:30-1015 at the LDS Church 325 East 500 North Heber Utah. Services will start at 11:00. Interment at Heber Cemetery.
