Bonnie Alice Smith Coleman, age 91, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025, at her home in Heber, Utah, surrounded by family.
Bonnie was born on January 21, 1934, in Payson, Utah, to Zelda and Earl Smith.
During World War II, Bonnie lived with her family at the Topaz Japanese Internment Camp, where her father served as a principal.
She grew up in Murray, Utah, before moving with her family to Keetley, where she attended Wasatch High School. There, she met Bill Coleman, whom she married on November 8, 1952.
During the Korean War, Bill was drafted, and the couple moved to Richmond, Virginia, before his deployment to Greenland.
Bonnie was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was deeply involved in her church callings, with a special passion for serving in the Young Women’s.
Creative, vivacious, and full of life, Bonnie established a holiday decorating business in Park City, Utah with her close friend, LaNae. In 1996, Bonnie and her daughter, Kris, opened the interior design and furniture store Pinto Pony Designs.
Bonnie was not only Kris’s mother, but also her best friend. They went everywhere together, truly connected at the hip.
She spent much of her time at the Circle Bar Ranch, helping with the sheep business and later cattle, and was known for cooking large meals that could feed a crew of cowboys. Travel was a lifelong passion, and she continued traveling and ranching even after her grandchildren arrived, keeping them closely involved in both. Her greatest hobby and joy was spoiling her grandchildren.
Bonnie spent the last three years of her life in Newport Beach, California, which were a blessing as she enjoyed time in the sunshine and near the ocean. She returned home to Heber for her final week, where she spent Christmas and her passing surrounded by family.
She is survived by her daughter, Kris, and Kris’s husband, Stephen; four grandchildren, Taylor (Saki), Kourtney, Greggory (Payton), and Elizabeth (Eli), to whom she was lovingly known as “Nana,” as well as many others who knew her by that name; and two great-grandchildren, Milo and Louie.
A graveside service will be held at the Heber City Cemetery on December 31, 2025, at 12:30 p.m.
