As some of you may already know, our beautiful, inside and out, Bethel 'Dranny' Wormley, headed straight to Paradise and her heavenly father Jehovah, on December 19, 2021, while her special granddaughter Ronnie, held her tiny hands in her own.
Beth, known to many as Dranny or Auntie Beth was born on June 19th, 1923 in Kalgoorlie, Australia. She was the baby of six siblings.
She traveled as a young girl to places like Fiji Islands, and Indonesia, to do preaching work, and because of her strong faith, was baptized in 1937.
She lived in Perth Australia, where she met her future husband, Thomas (Bill) Wormley, while he was there with the Navy. Their 'meet cute' story is that mom was handing out her magazines on the corner, in Perth, (hence the saying 'street worker' lol,) and our father took the magazines, His friend asked her on a date, but didn't realize until later, he had double booked, and sent our dad, that looked a lot like him, in his place, hoping she wouldn't notice, Really? But it went, obviously, very well. Later on in their lives, our father, thinking he was a comedian, would tell his friends "yeah, I met her on a corner doing street work," HaHa dad....and the rest is history.....They were married in California, on May 3rd 1945, and had a fantastic life together, until sadly, his passing in 2002.
Beth was very kind, loving, and loyal, and had a sweet humility, and grace about her. She was very generous, not only with her time, but also her special gifts. She had an uncanny ability to make you feel secure, comfortable, and cared for.
Beth loved our dad flying her and the family to cities for weekend brunches, and she especially enjoyed our many trips to the trailer, in Parker dam, on the Colorado river. It's where she enjoyed her favorite things, fishing, boating, water skiing, (and she didn't even get her hair 'doo' wet or messed up, you figure that one out, smiles,) kayaking, and enjoying a glass of her favorite Ruby port wine. She also had a great passion for gardening. We moved to Utah around 71. She was an excellent mom, not only taking care of our family, but also helping our father start his new business, and she was, the hard working woman behind his success. Our dad would jokingly say "She's a tough ole broad," (smiles,) and she really was the strongest woman we've ever known, and she never complained. When dad was asked how long they had been married, he would jokingly respond "hell, I was born married," which always brought a smile to her face.
She loved spending time with her dear friends, young and old, like Auntie Jeanne, LaRae, her Clifton pal Peggy, her little bonus grand, Lily, and many more, way too numerous to list. They all loved her, and have many wonderful memories to share and treasure forever. She even shared her childhood memories with some friends on zoom, just a couple of months ago, and they were so impressed, and commented that she was sharp as a tack.
Beth spoke quite frequently lately, about what a happy, satisfying and amazing life she has lived. She reminisced about her trips to Australia, how important family time was, and how much she missed our dad, and and how he doted on, and spoiled her.
Beth, her daughter Michelle, and son-in-law Rick, all resided together since about 2010. They had quite an adventure, living in Vegas, then near Grand Junction and the last year in Montana. She loved watching and feeding a little family of deer, chasing chickens and cuddling her little dog Daisy Kai.
They had recently decided to move back to the Utah area, to be closer to family members, and she was very excited about those plans. We were so grateful though, that she got to spend her last few weeks with her heart and soul.
She had a very happy and long life, but she just ran out of gas, and she peacefully passed away of natural causes. She will be dearly missed by everyone, and we're grateful that one day we will have the opportunity to see her again.
She is survived by her son David Wormley, grand, Nicole (Donny) Oryall, grand Angie Wormley, grand Brenton Wormley, Daughter, Michelle (Rick) Trafny, Grand, Ronnie (Gabrielle) Tracy, bonus grand Deven (Lisa) Trafny, bonus grand Trent Trafny, bonus grand, Travis (Hannah) Trafny, bonus grand Desi (Damion) Harper. She also had six great grands sixteen bonus great grands, three great great grands and three bonus great great grands. She was preceded in passing by her husband, Thomas (Bill) Wormley, and son William Paul Wormley.
