Barbara McDonald Moulton (age 90) was born Dec. 15, 1926 in Daniel, to Minnie Sonderegger Witt McDonald and Joseph C. McDonald. She passed away at her Heber City home, May 6, 2017, surrounded by her family; husband, John Melvin, son and daughter in law, Michael and Ann Moulton, and daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Rick Hymas.
Barbara was the last of her siblings to pass away. Her brothers and sisters are: Eugena Carlen, Vernon McDonald, Leah Houtz, Hiram McDonald, Glenn McDonald, Clarence McDonald, Giles McDonald, Cora Wathen, Walter McDonald, Clifford McDonald, Melvin Witt and Kenneth Witt. Barbara attended school in Daniel, and Wasatch High in Heber City. She graduated as valedictorian. She attended BYU with a full scholarship for one year. By the time spring came her interest was more in John Melvin Moulton, newly returned World War II Veteran, than in college. They married September 16, 1946 in the Salt Lake City LDS temple. For 70 years they walked hand in hand through thick and thin, in business and in life. Barbara was a gracious, lovely lady with an eye for design and architecture. Her numerous talents included a love of gardening, sewing, embroidery, canning, bread making, family history, as well as creating scrapbooks for each of her grandchildren. In 1975 Barbara took first place in the Utah Make it Yourself With Wool Contest, and then took 5th place at the national competition. One of her Brazilian Embroidery pieces won 2nd place at the Utah State Fair. She was a precise bookkeeper for Moulton's Inc. for almost 46 years before leaving on a mission in 1993 with John Melvin. They served in Nauvoo and Carthage, Illinois. Over the years, she lovingly served in a variety of positions in the LDS church. Barbara was thrilled to be the grandmother to twelve grandchildren and forty two great-grandchildren.
