Barbara Cluff Brown, age 81, of Heber City, passed away on October 3, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born May 2, 1944, in Heber City, Utah, to Charles Lessie Cluff and Helen Dayton Cluff.
Barbara grew up in the beautiful Heber Valley, the middle of three children. She had an idyllic childhood and loved riding her bike up and down Center Street and playing with her friends and cousins. She was an excellent student who loved learning. One of her favorite pastimes was reading and she could often be found with her nose in a book. In high school, she enjoyed being a cheerleader and participating in many social activities.
After graduating from Wasatch High School in 1962, she attended Brigham Young University and went on to become an elementary school teacher. She taught at the old North School and later at JR Smith Elementary where she dedicated over three decades to teaching children. She was loved by her students and fellow faculty members, who became her dearest friends. She touched the lives of countless children and had so many cute and funny stories of her experiences with them. Her children often encouraged her to write a book because it would have been a best seller!
Barbara was a faithful, life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she served in various church callings including primary teacher, ward chorister and a member of the stake young women’s presidency. She was a student of the gospel and became an expert on doctrine and scripture. Her children fondly recall that she rarely missed her church meetings and was very diligent in teaching them the gospel of Jesus Christ.
In her later years, Barbara was one of the original members of the Merry Music Makers band where she shared her beautiful singing voice. She loved playing the drums and being part of such a fun group of family and friends.
Barbara had many spiritual gifts which she used to bless the lives of others. She had a way of meeting people on their level, never missing an opportunity to serve and minister to the one.
Barbara considered her family to be her greatest treasure - especially her grandchildren. She never missed a ball game, performance or event involving her grandsons Tyler, Casey and McKay, who grew up with her as their favorite playmate. She looked forward to her trips to see the Pennsylvania grandkids Connor, Isabelle and Avery; it was hard to leave them to come back home.
She is survived by her son, Alan Shawn Brown (Kelly) of Willow Street, PA; daughter, Karen Anderson of Heber City, Utah; grandsons Connor Brown (Taylor), Tyler Anderson, Casey Anderson and McKay Anderson; two granddaughters, Isabelle (Logan) Tolbert and Avery Brown, and one great-grandson, Grayson Brown. She is also survived by her sister, Joyce Probst (Paul), and her brother, Alan Cluff.
