April Arlean Mlaker Stroud was born August 24, 1982 in Castro Valley, California, the daughter of Alden and Lynn (Reardon) Mlaker. She died at her parents’ home in Heber City on November 6, 2020 after a long illness. She was 38.
April was raised in San Ramon, California where she graduated from high school and Beauty College. She was very artistic and liked to paint and draw. As a teenager she entered her oil paintings in the County Fair, where she won several ribbons. She worked as a hair stylist, receptionist, office manager, the assistant manager of a fast food restaurant, and as a butcher. April believed in working hard.
April married Gregory Scott Stroud; they were later divorced.
April loved to cook and enjoyed trying new recipes. She collected cook books and menus from restaurants she had visited. She also liked to read. She loved animals, especially cats. She loved camping, fishing, Christmas and playing Rook. She was funny and fun and will be missed.
April is survived by her parents, Alden and Lynn Mlaker (Heber City), daughter Hailey Stroud (Heber City), siblings Michael Mlaker (Heber City), Amber Mlaker (Brooklyn, New York), Kari Marie Rosswalter (Hayward, California), Kimberly Tanton (Livermore, California), Andrew Llanos & wife Grace (Stuttgart, Germany), and Christian Llanos & wife Tina (Brentwood, California). She was preceded in death (2007) by Claudia Mlaker. She is also survived by an uncle, Michael Reardon (Placerville, California) and numerous nieces and nephews.
A viewing was held November 10th at the Heber Valley Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service in the Heber City Cemetery.
