Dr. Alson W. Sears, DVM born 1/3/36 and raised in Panama. Attended the University of Pennsylvania for his bachelors and earned his doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of California, Davis. He spent 40 years practicing small animal medicine in Lancaster California. This is where he was inspired to find a cure for Distemper in dogs with the help of his attentive staff and especially Charles "Chuck" Whitt. The story of the cure is available in the book ‘Save Dogs from Distemper’, written by Edward Bond, focus’s on the journey of curing this horrible disease.
He retired to Park City, Utah in 2007 and passed away quietly at home on 6/3/23. Preceded in death by his wife of 64 years Ruth F. Sears.
He leaves behind his children AW "Skip" Sears III, Patricia "Patti" Sears Keene, Michael F. Sears and his wife Elizabeth Sears, Grandchildren Kimberly Keene Shaw and husband Richard, Cameron C. Keene, Carter A. Sears and Miles Sears.
