Ruth Jeffs Hardman

November 29, 1939 - November 26, 2021

Ruth Jeffs Hardman was born on July 26th, 1939 in Heber City, Utah, the daughter of Harry and Nellie Jeffs. She passed away on Friday, November 26th, 2021 at home in Evergreen with her loving husband, Elwood, beside her. Ruth was a longtime resident of Evergreen, Colorado. She and Woody moved the family there in 1974. Shortly after settling in the area they became owners of the D.P. Wilmot family home. Over the years they have restored and maintained the home, which in 2008 was named a Jefferson County Historic Landmark. A devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ruth served in a variety of callings including early-morning seminary instructor and as an ordinance worker in the Denver Temple for many years. She was also an expert genealogist, and came to know and love many of her ancestors through her dedicated efforts on their behalf. She was an active member of the Mountain Genealogical Society and the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, and served as director of two Family History Centers In Houston, Texas and Golden, Colorado. Ruth and Woody served as full-time missionaries in the Denver South Mission Office and the Nauvoo, Illinois Temple. Other talents and pursuits included sewing, making dolls, collecting antiques and family heirlooms, and music. Additionally she and Woody enjoyed square dancing. Many will cherish the memory of her youthful zest for life. She truly touched the lives of many in every organization she was part of. Ruth is survived by her husband of 64 years, Elwood Hardman; sons, Bryan and Jerry Hardman; daughter, Jill Perkins; sister, Phyllis Kendall; brothers, Harry and Joe Jeffs; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren, with one more on the way in January, along with many beloved nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by two sons, Von and Jim Hardman; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Hardman; and grandson, Tom Perkins. Ruth is now reunited with them, along with her parents and two older brothers, Hal and Dee Jeffs. Services in Ruth’s honor will be held on Thursday, December 2nd at 2:00 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 7645 Malamute Dr., Evergreen, CO, Hwy. 73. Family and friends may arrive beginning at 1:00 pm as desired for viewing in the Relief Society room. An additional service will take place on Saturday, December 4th at 11:00 am at the Probst Family Heber Valley Funeral Home, 288 N. Main Street, Heber City, UT. Loved ones will then gather at the Heber City Cemetery, 680 N 550 E, for dedication of the grave. Ruth’s family members are so grateful to dear friends for their love and support, in addition to members of the Front Range Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for their generosity in providing delicious meals and many other acts of selfless service. We especially thank the dedicated hospice professionals from Lutheran SCL Health for their compassion and caring during this challenging experience. In lieu of flowers you may wish to make a donation to Lutheran Medical Center, Hospice Care, Inpatient Unit, 3210 Lutheran Pkwy., Wheat Ridge, CO, 80033.
