Donald J. White passed away on Friday, October 22nd at the age of 88. He was born on September 19th, 1933, in Monterrey Park, CA to Willis and Ella White. He and Sheila Bauer were married 64 years.
Don was always active and a very hard worker and never shied away from getting his hands dirty. When there was a job to be done, he was the first to arrive and didn’t leave until the task was finished. He had a great sense of humor that drew people to him. Even in his last few days, he was still joking with nurses and family. He loved to camp, fish, hunt and read. Some of the family’s fondest memories are of summer camping trips to Hume Lake and deer hunts. Don was an avid reader and could finish a novel in a day. His tastes ran to westerns and espionage genres. He read every book in the Heber library in those sections, many more than once.
Don had an entrepreneurial spirit and tried his hand at many endeavors from construction and hydro-electric plants to his and Sheila’s successful Bear Creek Country Kitchens soup and dip business established in Heber, UT in 19¬¬91. He was dedicated to his employees and to the business, but his passion was always for the outdoors. In 1998, he finally realized his dream job when they purchased a cattle ranch in Dell, MT. It was hard to get him out of a saddle or off the tractor as he worked dawn to dusk. Of the many horses, he owned over the years, his favorite was Sonny. He was always a cowboy at heart.
Don is survived by his wife Sheila and children Nancy Hatch, Vicky Randall, Steve White and Chris White, 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by two sons, Daniel White and Scott White. The family would like to thank Rocky Mountain Care for their compassion and care.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 28th at 1:00 pm at the Heber City Cemetery.
